Abstract

Combining continuous variables with indicator (dummy) variables can be a simple way of allowing for non-linearity of a different type than other simple forms like squares, higher polynomials, or logarithms. As such it has a place in most, if not all, toolkits. In this Stata tip I go through several examples.
